Begining October this year 2026 Dangote is set to kick off construction of new 700,000 barrel per day refinery in Kenya. This will be world largest single Africa refinery at a cost of between fifteen billion US dollars to sixteen billion US dollars.
Describing the project as a major step towards helping African countries achieve energy sufficiency, Dangote said preparations for the project were at advanced stage and that the facility would serve the entire East Africa region.
The refinery cost has been revised to $15.5-16 billion US dollars from the initial estimate of $ 17 billion US dollars.
The project is expected to be completed in less than four years, financed through a mix of 30 % equity and 70 % debt.
Off course with a good will from the current regime (Ruto’s government) that has promised to invest heavily in the same; the opposing forces can only be external as a result of competition in energy industry.

Africa richest man Aliko Dangote.
